Firefox Will Run Faster And Lighter On Android With A Native UI

A new version of Firefox for the Android OS is now under development having a native UI, which will be a replacement for the current XUL implementation.

Johnathan Nightingale, director of Firefox engineering, has stated that by using this new interface, Firefox would run faster with less memory usage and better response to user interaction.

The team working on this project still has some problems like adding extension support for Firefox. Current versions (Beta and Aurora channels) will not be affected by this change. Also, Firefox 8/9 will be available with the current XUL UI until the native UI is finished.
