The Elementary theme is still one of the most popular Gnome themes. A new version is released for the Elementary theme (v2.1), and we will show you in this tutorial how to install it.

  • Elementary Theme Installation
If you are running a Ubuntu-based disribution, launch the terminal and issue these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementaryart/elementarydesktop
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install elementary-theme 

For other Linux-based distributions, you can download the theme from this page and follow setup instructions.
  • Running The Elementary Theme
Now issue this command to open the Appearance Preferences window, then select the Elementary theme to apply it:


You need also to download the elementary icons here. You have to extract the files in the ~/.icons folder at the root of your Home directory.
