In this article, we will see the command we use to activate a stopwatch via the terminal in Linux.

Get Started

Launch your terminal and issue this command to activate the stopwatch:

time read

To stop it, simply press CTRL + D.

To stop the stopwatch by pressing any keyboard key, simply issue this command:

 time read -sn1

 You will get results similar to these:

~$ time read
real 0m14.025s
user 0m0.000s
sys 0m0.000s
